Why Waggor Is the Best Ranked Pet in Free Fire

Waggor is a penguin pet in Free Fire with one of the most powerful passive abilities in the game. His skill, Smooth Gloo, automatically generates a Gloo Wall grenade and places it directly into your inventory whenever your Gloo Wall supply drops below a certain threshold. At max level (Skill Level 3 / Pet Level 7), Waggor produces one Gloo Wall grenade every 100 seconds whenever you have fewer than 2 Gloo Walls in your inventory.

That might sound minor on paper. In practice, it means you never run out of Gloo Walls in a ranked match. Every 100 seconds, a free defensive barrier appears in your backpack — no looting required, no diamonds spent, no RNG. In a game where Gloo Walls are the difference between surviving a sniper shot and returning to the lobby, having an infinite supply fundamentally changes how you play.

Waggor was introduced during Free Fire’s 3rd Anniversary event (August 2020) and has remained one of the top 3 most-used pets every season since. In the 2026 meta, he sits firmly in S-Tier alongside Detective Panda and Rockie. Pro players and Grandmaster-ranked players consistently rate Waggor as the single best pet for solo ranked play.

Originally a lab guinea pig who escaped and became a wanderer (according to his in-game lore), Waggor’s cute penguin appearance belies the fact that he’s quietly one of the most impactful gameplay elements in Free Fire. His ability doesn’t deal damage, doesn’t heal, and doesn’t speed you up — but it gives you the one thing that keeps you alive in every fight: cover.

Smooth Gloo — How Waggor’s Ability Works

🛡️
Smooth Gloo
Automatically produces a Gloo Wall grenade when the player’s Gloo Wall inventory drops below the threshold. The grenade appears directly in the player’s backpack without any action required.
Pet Level Skill Level Trigger Condition Cooldown
Level 1 Skill Lv 1 0 Gloo Walls in inventory 120 seconds
Level 4 Skill Lv 2 Less than 1 Gloo Wall 110 seconds
Level 7 Skill Lv 3 (MAX) Less than 2 Gloo Walls 100 seconds
Key Mechanic

The trigger condition is the most important upgrade. At Skill Level 1, Smooth Gloo only activates when you have zero Gloo Walls — meaning you must use your last one before Waggor generates a new one. At Skill Level 3 (max), it activates when you have fewer than 2 — meaning the moment you drop to 1 Gloo Wall, the timer starts generating another. This keeps your supply at 2 almost constantly, giving you always-ready defensive options.

How Smooth Gloo Works in Practice

The ability is fully passive. You don’t activate it manually. Waggor sits on your character’s shoulder during the match and automatically detects your Gloo Wall inventory count. When the count drops below the threshold, the 100-second (max level) timer starts. When the timer completes, a Gloo Wall grenade silently appears in your backpack. You don’t get a notification — it just shows up. Many players don’t even realize Waggor has given them a Gloo Wall until they check their inventory.

The grenade goes into your backpack, not your hand. You still need to equip and throw it manually. Waggor generates the item; you decide when and where to use it.

The timer resets if you pick up Gloo Walls from ground loot. If you find Gloo Wall grenades while Waggor’s timer is running and your count goes above the threshold, the timer pauses. It resumes the next time your count drops below the threshold again.

Only one grenade per cycle. Each timer completion produces exactly one Gloo Wall grenade. Waggor never generates multiples at once.

How to Get Waggor in Free Fire

Store purchase: Waggor is permanently available in the in-game pet store for 699 diamonds. This is the most reliable way to get him.

Events: Garena frequently offers Waggor for free or discounted through login events, top-up events, and special celebrations. He was given free during the 3rd Anniversary top-up event (200 diamonds top-up), multiple login events, and the “Choose Your Free Pet” events where players select between Waggor, Dreki, and Spirit Fox. Watch for these events — they appear roughly every 2–3 months on most servers.

Redeem codes: Garena occasionally releases redeem codes that include pet rewards. Waggor has appeared in redeem code rewards multiple times.

Pet food for leveling: After acquiring Waggor, you need pet food to level him up from Level 1 to Level 7. Pet food costs 30 diamonds per unit or can be obtained free through events, achievements, and daily missions. Prioritize leveling Waggor to Level 7 immediately — the difference between Skill Level 1 (120s cooldown, 0 Gloo Walls trigger) and Skill Level 3 (100s cooldown, less than 2 trigger) is enormous.

Best Characters to Pair With Waggor

Waggor’s Gloo Wall generation synergizes with characters who use Gloo Walls as a core part of their kit, and with characters who benefit from sustained defensive play.

Skyler + Waggor
S-Tier
The best combo in Free Fire. Skyler’s Riptide Rhythm destroys enemy Gloo Walls and heals him for each one destroyed. Waggor ensures Skyler always has Gloo Walls to place for his own defense. Skyler destroys enemy walls while Waggor replenishes your own — infinite offensive and defensive Gloo Wall cycling.
Chrono + Waggor
S-Tier
Chrono’s Time Turner shield provides 600-damage protection on a cooldown. Between Chrono shield cooldowns, Waggor’s Gloo Walls serve as interim cover. This creates an always-defended playstyle where you’re never without some form of protection.
Nairi + Waggor
A-Tier
Nairi’s Ice Iron ability gives Gloo Walls additional HP, making them harder to break. Waggor supplies the Gloo Walls that Nairi buffs. Together, you get a constant supply of reinforced cover that’s significantly tougher than standard walls.
Alok + Waggor
A-Tier
Alok’s Drop the Beat heals and speeds up your team. Waggor’s Gloo Walls protect you while Alok’s aura heals. Place a Gloo Wall, activate Alok, heal behind cover — then push. The combination creates a sustainable aggressive-defensive rhythm.
Wukong + Waggor
A-Tier
Wukong’s Camouflage transforms him into a bush for flanking. Waggor provides Gloo Walls for emergency cover when Wukong gets spotted mid-flank. The combination enables aggressive flanking with a defensive fallback option.
Pro Tip — Squad Strategy

In squads, have one Falco and three Waggors. Falco’s gliding speed bonus applies to the entire team (only one is needed), while three Waggors generate Gloo Walls for three squad members simultaneously. This floods your squad with defensive cover throughout the match, making your team extremely hard to push.

Waggor vs Rockie: Both are S-Tier. Rockie reduces active skill cooldowns by 15% at max level — essential for characters like Alok and Chrono who rely on timed abilities. Waggor provides free Gloo Walls — essential for defensive play in ranked. Pick Waggor for solo ranked BR where Gloo Walls are survival currency. Pick Rockie for Clash Squad where active skill timing wins rounds.

Waggor vs Detective Panda: Detective Panda restores 10 HP per kill at max level. This is powerful for aggressive players who chain kills. Waggor doesn’t heal — he prevents damage by giving you cover. Pick Waggor if you play defensively or strategically. Pick Detective Panda if you play hyper-aggressively and consistently get 5+ kills per match.

Waggor vs Robo: Robo adds 100 HP shield to Gloo Walls at max level, making them harder to break. Waggor generates the Gloo Walls themselves. Waggor + Robo is NOT possible (you can only equip one pet) — you must choose. Waggor is generally better because having Gloo Walls at all is more important than having slightly stronger ones. However, if your playstyle revolves around holding positions behind Gloo Walls, Robo’s extra HP per wall can be valuable.

Waggor Pet Skins

Pet skins are purely cosmetic in Free Fire — they change Waggor’s visual appearance but do not affect gameplay or the Smooth Gloo ability. Several Waggor skins have been released through events.

Waggor Tips & Tricks

01

Level to 7 immediately. The difference between Skill Level 1 and Skill Level 3 is massive. At Level 1, Smooth Gloo only triggers when you have zero Gloo Walls (120s cooldown). At Level 7, it triggers when you have fewer than 2 (100s cooldown). Spend your pet food on Waggor first before any other pet.

02

Use Gloo Walls aggressively to trigger generation. Don’t hoard Gloo Walls when Waggor is equipped. Use them freely — drop a wall for cover during every fight, even when you don’t strictly need it. The sooner your count drops below 2, the sooner Waggor’s timer starts generating a replacement. Players who save Gloo Walls “for emergencies” are wasting Waggor’s value.

03

In squads, give extra Gloo Walls to teammates. When Waggor generates a Gloo Wall and your count reaches 2, drop one for a teammate. This brings your count back below 2, restarting Waggor’s timer. This loop produces a steady stream of Gloo Walls for your entire squad — not just you.

04

Waggor is strongest in final circles. Late-game supplies dwindle. Players who looted 5 Gloo Walls early have burned through them by final zone. Your Waggor is still generating new ones every 100 seconds. This supply advantage compounds — in the last 3 minutes of a ranked match, you’ll have 2–3 more Gloo Walls than any player without Waggor.

05

Pair with Gloo Wall placement techniques. Waggor gives you the walls — you need to know how to use them. Master one-tap wall placement, 360-degree wall rotation, and wall-peek shooting to maximize every Gloo Wall Waggor provides.

06

Waggor counters supply scarcity on Kalahari. Kalahari has fewer buildings and less loot density than Bermuda, meaning Gloo Wall grenades are harder to find. Waggor’s auto-generation compensates for the map’s lower loot, making him arguably more valuable on Kalahari than Bermuda.

07

Use Waggor for revive cover. When reviving a downed teammate in the open, you need instant cover. If you’ve used your last Gloo Wall, Waggor’s passive will eventually generate one — but you can’t wait 100 seconds mid-revive. The real strategy: always keep at least 1 Gloo Wall in reserve specifically for revive situations. Waggor ensures this reserve is replenished between fights.

08

Don’t use Waggor in Clash Squad. Clash Squad rounds are 90 seconds or less — Waggor’s 100-second cooldown means he barely generates one Gloo Wall per match. Rockie (cooldown reduction) or Detective Panda (HP on kills) are significantly better choices for Clash Squad’s fast-paced format.

Waggor in Battle Royale vs Clash Squad

Battle Royale (Ranked) — S-Tier

Waggor is at his absolute best in ranked Battle Royale. Matches last 15–20 minutes, giving Smooth Gloo time to generate 9–12 free Gloo Walls over the course of a single match. That’s 9–12 additional defensive barriers you wouldn’t have without him. In solo ranked especially, where you have no teammates to share supplies with, Waggor’s self-sustaining Gloo Wall generation is irreplaceable.

The pet becomes even more valuable in late-game zone fights. When the safe zone shrinks and cover becomes scarce, Gloo Walls are the only reliable protection. Players without Waggor run out of walls by the final 2–3 circles. Players with Waggor always have at least 1–2 walls available. That’s often the difference between a Booyah and a top-5 finish. Check our solo rank push guide for more ranked strategy.

Clash Squad — C-Tier

Waggor is weak in Clash Squad. Rounds last 60–90 seconds, meaning Smooth Gloo’s 100-second cooldown rarely completes even once. You start each round with purchasable Gloo Walls from the shop, so the auto-generation is redundant. Use Rockie (15% cooldown reduction for active skills) or Detective Panda (10 HP per kill) instead. See our Clash Squad tips guide for mode-specific pet recommendations.
